A few years ago, when the long-awaited Duke Nukes reboot hit theaters, it was heralded as the definitive sequel to one of the most iconic video games of all time.
But, since then, the franchise has been mired in controversy, with its sequel, Duke Nukedem, failing to deliver the same level of enthusiasm that the first film received.
Now, with the film’s director, James Mangold, announcing the film has been greenlit for a 2019 release, the Duke Nukerocalypse is on the horizon.
As it happens, Duke has already been greenlighted for another franchise in the making: Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War, which will also see the return of one of Marvel’s most iconic superheroes.
Now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been confirmed, the future of the franchise seems bright.
If we’re lucky, we’ll finally get the chance to experience some of the filmic majesty of one the franchise’s most beloved characters.
If not, it’s unlikely that we’ll ever see another Duke NUKES movie.
However, Mangold’s enthusiasm for the franchise isn’t solely due to the fact that he has the original trilogy on his resume.
His passion for the Dukes origin story is evident in his work on several other franchises as well.
He’s been behind the camera for such titles as the animated film and the Marvel Animated Series, and his work in the film universe is just as deep as that of the first franchise.
So, when Mangold was approached to direct a Duke sequel, he jumped at the opportunity.
And while he hasn’t confirmed when the film will hit theaters or whether it will be an adaptation of the previous film or a completely new project, we have a pretty good idea of what it’ll be like to be a Duke.
Here’s what we know so far about the film, courtesy of the Duke Nukedermovie.
First off, let’s get something out of the way: this is not a Dukes sequel.
We have a very good idea that it will not be.
The only thing we can say is that Mangold is a big fan of the series, and the filmmaker is hoping that fans will take to the big screen.
We’ve also heard the film is set to be darker than the original, with a more realistic and realistic take on the Dukes history.
So, we’re guessing it won’t be a straight-up reboot.
It’ll be a new eraFor those of you unfamiliar with the Dukedem universe, the Dutchers origins are actually quite simple: the Duke was born in a small town, and eventually, the family moved to a big city to escape a brutal civil war.
(Though, as the Duggars themselves explain in the book, there are plenty of hints to this happening in the series itself.)
The Dukes are, of course, an unlikely team of misfits and misfits in the modern world.
The Dukes come from a time before the modern age, when humanity still had a lot of trouble adjusting to living in peace.
The family was the first to settle the city, but it was a rough life in the city.
The first major conflict was between two families, and it was the Dufres who won.
In order to save the city from destruction, the mayor sent his son to protect the city while the rest of the city fell.
The mayor then ordered the Daunys to go to the city to take back the city that they loved and that the Daugums were proud of.
Unfortunately, the city was destroyed, and soon, the world came to an end.
So what happens next?
The Duke family and their friends try to rebuild, but the war between the two families has left them both shattered.
As a result, the two kids get stuck in the limbo of the afterlife, and their parents try to figure out how to go forward.
For the first time, Mangel has set a new tone for the series.
The film will have a much darker tone than the first, with an emphasis on realism.
We can expect to see a lot more violence and a lot less humour.
While we’re not going to see any Duke Nukiem-esque stunts, there will be a lot to look forward to, including a new “superhero” who will be voiced by Michael K. Williams.
It’s unclear whether he will be played by Michael Shannon, who starred in the first two films, or by Michael Fassbender, who has been the focus of numerous jokes about the actor.
So far, we know the film follows a Duke’s journey in his afterlife.
There will be flashbacks to the Duan’s childhood, as well as his experiences in his new hometown, and he will also have to face some tough decisions about how he will live out his legacy in the afterlife.
As the Duka’s journey goes on, the characters will
